Customer Spotlight: Builder’s Choice, Inc.

At Woodmont Cabinetry, customer relationships are paramount; and, one of our greatest joys is seeing our customers succeed. Now led by CEO Ivan Madrigal, Builder’s Choice, a longtime client, has blossomed. The company has been named one of the fastest growing companies in Houston and has also made the Inc. 5000 list as one of the fastest growing private companies in the United States.

This year, Builder’s Choice announced the creation of Purpose First, a holding company with a mission. The goal of Purpose First is to acquire companies in the building industry that are committed to a larger purpose beyond rapid growth and rising profits. Said building companies will donate a percentage of profits, raw materials, and skilled labor to non-profits that serve the greatest needs in their respective communities.

Like Woodmont Cabinetry, Builder’s Choice and the other companies under the Purpose First umbrella practice marketplace ministry. Builder’s Choice donated in excess of $100,000 to Hurricane Harvey victims; they contribute to Habitat for Humanity’s efforts to provide affordable community housing; they help Operation Finally Home in their efforts to house local veterans; and, since Houston is a major hub for human trafficking, they support groups like Rescue Houston. Linda Stewart, Builder’s Choice VP of Marketing & Product Development said: “As corporate citizens and residents of Houston, we have always focused on hands-on giving to those most in need in our community.”

Ivan Madigral explained the inspiration behind the new entity: “Our commitment is to loving our community the best we can and to helping folks in need – we all need a helping hand at some point, in one form or another. Purpose First Group came from our desire to ensure that this principle remains the cornerstone of our continued growth and our giving keeps us grounded to where true riches lie.”

Purpose First now boasts a joint venture partnership with four companies in the building industry – Builder’s Choice Cabinets, Builder’s Choice Windows, TMD Windows & Doors and S&S Craftsmen – unifying four distinct companies under one proverbial roof. Made possible with the assistance of Orlando’s Assurance Mezzanine lending, under Madrigal’s guidance, the companies will work together to share knowledge, leverage market share, and increase social impact in their respective markets.

This means that in addition to cabinetry and windows, Builder’s Choice will also service residential developers and builders with countertops, custom millwork, custom casework, and custom mouldings manufactured by S&S Craftsmen. Likewise, TMD Windows & Doors, and S&S Craftsmen, both based in Tampa, FL, will now offer cabinetry to their clientele.
