Music on the Factory Floor
When you walk onto the factory floor at Woodmont Cabinetry, the first thing you notice is the unmistakable racket of hard work. Buzz saws, drills, belt sanders, pneumatic tubes, glue guns, nail guns, staplers, and more.
But as you watch and listen to the work progress, the medley transforms into an orchestra of efficiency. The sounds take on a rhythmic, organized quality and each worker plays a distinct instrument. They know their instruments well because many of them have been employed at Woodmont for years.
Some workers wear earplugs to protect their hearing. For them, the familiar symphony of percussive teamwork is ingrained in the body’s memory. The workers interact with the cool efficiency of a family since they’ve forged a bond around the shared dedication to hard work and skilled craftsmanship. Indeed, there is a distinct tempo to the factory floor’s music. And, similar to how a gospel choir sways together in a church choir, the cabinet-makers seem to move in unison as they work side-by-side.
One moment the tools might harmonize, or the staplers synchronize as they bite into new wood; the next moment a whining buzz saw joins in. To the uninitiated ear, the saw may seem like a harsh, atonal note, but not for Woodmont Cabinetry’s employees. To them, it is the sound of a beautiful cabinet being created.
Just as with a seasoned, professional orchestra, the passion for perfection drives the music of the work. To learn more about the beauty of Woodmont Cabinetry’s craftsmanship, visit our Wood Species, Finishing Process, and Inspiration Gallery pages.
